A Pennsylvania man was taken into custody on May 4 after authorities allegedly found marijuana in his vehicle. According to the report, the 23-year-old Northampton County man was confronted by law officials at a Wawa.

A state trooper arrived at the Wawa, which was located in the 3800 block of Route 248, at about 3:20 a.m. The trooper reportedly parked next to an orange Mitsubishi Eclipse that still had the engine running. The trooper reported that the driver behind the wheel had a strong odor of marijuana coming from him. It was also noted that the man had slurred speech and watery, red eyes. Authorities said that the man admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day and decided to get some food at the Wawa.

Authorities conducted sobriety tests before taking the man into custody for suspicion of DUI. During a search of his vehicle, authorities said that they found mason jars with marijuana inside and a digital scale. The man was ultimately charged with three misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, a felony count of possession with intent to deliver, a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned and then released on $10,000 bail.

Those who are defending against drunk driving charges may face severe consequences that could have a major impact on their lives. A criminal law attorney may review the case against a person who has been charged with DUI. The attorney may look for illegal actions that occurred during the initial investigation, which might result in certain evidence being excluded from the case. The attorney may also look for other inconsistencies to further weaken the case against their client.
